Particle Identification with the Rich Detector
نویسندگان
چکیده
The RICH detector in the hyperon beam experiment WA89 at the CERN-SPS is used for identiication of , K and p=p out of ?-N reactions. Methods for reduction of charged particle background in the detector are discussed. An algorithm for particle identiication was developed and tested on a sample of ! p decays. A separation of p and with 90% eeciency and a rejection by a factor of 10 or more at a momentum of 150 GeV=c was achieved.

The CLEO III RICH Detector
In the past 20 years of its existence, the CLEO detector has been associated with many discoveries and precision measurements of heavy flavour physics. The latest generation of the detector, the CLEO III, has been upgraded. One of the new features of the CLEO III detector is it’s particle identification system, the Ring Imaging CHerenkov (RICH) detector. The basic principle of the differential ...
متن کاملParticle Identification in 4th
The importance of particle identification Physics measurements often depend on the efficiency and the purity of an event ensemble, and the efficiency is a product of several small efficiencies for the isolation and identification of each event feature. The 4th detector has been designed from the beginning with particle identification in mind, knowing that we may be seeking small signals and tha...
متن کاملParticle identification with the AMS-02 RICH detector: search for dark matter with antideuterons
The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS), whose final version AMS-02 is to be installed on the International Space Station (ISS) for at least 3 years, is a detector designed to measure charged cosmic ray spectra with energies up to the TeV region and with high energy photon detection capability up to a few hundred GeV, using state-of-the art particle identification techniques. It is equipped with ...
متن کاملPerformance of the LiF-TEA Ring Imaging CherenkovDetector at CLEO
We describe the particle identification capability of the CLEO RICH system. This system consists of a 1 cm thick LiF radiator coupled to a photon detector that uses wire proportional chambers filled with a mixture of CH4 and TEA. We discuss the yield of photoelectrons observed per ring and the angular resolution. We show the efficiencies achieved for particle identification and the associated f...

The construction and use of a dual radiator Ring Imaging Čerenkov (RICH) detector is described. This instrument was developed for the HERMES experiment at DESY which emphasises measurements of semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering. It provides particle identification for pions, kaons, and protons in the momentum range from 2 to 15 GeV, which is essential to these studies. The instrument uses...
